Why to How

"The bigger the why - the easier the how"  - Jim Rohn

As the lightness of day starts to unfold early on this Monday morning a new week stands before us!   Over the course of the last three days my husband, Ed, and I participated in a workshop that had us looking at many aspects of our life.  Diving into some inner introspection, the events and exercises that unfolded were revealing and energizing, a factor that can become critical in keeping your mind open to life's possibilities.

While there were many things shared throughout this workshop that touched my mind and heart, this morning's quote spoke very loudly to me.  There are many days that we get lost in the day-to-day of life, from the demands of keeping all the balls up in the air, to things not working out as we had hoped or planned.   We can begin to forget our purpose, our "why", for being on this planet.  When we forget our why it can become more and more difficult to remember the reason we are moving in the direction(s) that we are moving.

It had been awhile since I had been at a workshop that had me so submersed into the core of myself. While in some aspects it was a bit scary, it was also invigorating and energizing.  In fact energy was one of the topics of the workshop - most pointedly energy and our relationship to money.  You know that green stuff that usually has us moving in the directions we move each week.  That little aspect of why we sometimes spend hours and hours doing things we don't like to do - for the sole purpose of having enough of those greenbacks.

I walked away from the weekend with the reminder that money can and should be joy.  As I look through my pages and pages of notes this morning I am empowering myself to put the things I learned into action.  After all, how many times do we caught up in what is shared in seminars and then a day or week goes by and the energy of it fades.  We go back to our same old patterns and thoughts. But my commitment is to take this information gathered and make good with it.  Especially remembering my whys for going in the first place.  I am creating a notebook to house my notes and keeping it close by on my desk as a daily reminder.  In addition, each and every day I am going to take the action steps necessary to keep the information working for me.

I have a question for you this morning.  Hard to believe but true, Thanksgiving is only two weeks from Thursday!!  What are your why's that you give thanks for each and every day?  Can you take out a piece of paper and starting writing them - those items that make you tick, that give you purpose for being on this planet?  Reasons other than just taking in oxygen.  The reasons that actually make your heart swell and your mind fully engaged.

My challenge to you in the week ahead is to remember the things that make you dance.  To open your mind to your possibilities of all that you actually have in your life and all that is possible to unfold in the future.  If you are feeling stuck, can you look at ways to get unstuck?  How can you empower yourself to visualize making this week and every week focused on being the best you that you can possibly become.   Along the way don't forget to find the people and tools that will assist you in keeping your mind open and your heart free.
