Realization Recipe

"If we dream something, if we commit ourselves to it, that is a physical thrust towards realization that we can put into the universe." - Will Smith
Welcome to February 2010, the first day of the second month of the year. As we head into the week ahead, I want to start this week's Victory Letter with a question or questions about you and what it is before you in the week ahead.
What is the big, hairy audacious dream that you are committed to in your life right now? I am talking about that vision that when you think of it, you grin from ear to ear. You know that special mental picture you have, that upon realization would send you over the top towards complete nirvana.
Now as I ask this I would really like for you to take the time to envision it clearly and completely. As you think about it, do you plan on working towards it in the week ahead, to keep the vision not only alive, but also actually moving forward? What will you do to get it rolling right out of the hopper this morning? Who will support you in making this possible? Think about that person or persons who you can best engage in assisting you towards your big goal(s).
As most of us know by now, sometimes in life things happen easily and by chance, and sometimes it seems tougher than getting the United States Congress to work together, in order to make our dreams happen. How clear are you about this particular vision? As you look at your calendar for the week ahead how many things are scheduled that will take you towards your big "it".
Is there going to be time in between what you have scheduled on your calendar for those special little elements of life to come popping through? You know those special little spontaneous moments.
For example, yesterday Ed and I shared some special spontaneous moments that this week's picture reflects. It was a nice day, not to chilly out, and we decided to take the pooches out on a trail not too far from our house. We enjoyed the walk and the beauty all around us, as we avoided the mud that the melting snow had left on many spots along the trail. By the time we got back to our car Sam and Izzy were most definitely not the cleanest dogs in town. In fact, they looked like they had been in a mud bath.
So I had this idea pop into my head about a place fairly close to where we were that offered self serve dog baths. With the vision of clean dogs in our heads, before we got home, we headed towards the "Struttin Pup". The dogs, not knowing what was about to come their way were just thrilled to be having so much time with us.
We headed into the store with dogs in tow and hung out among the chew toys, treats and dog food until a stall opened up (apparently ours were not the only dirty dogs in town). Again, the dogs had no idea what was about to come their way - just happy to be spending time with us in this pretty cool dog place.
What came next was an unexpected 30 minutes of fun for Ed and I. Having never done this before it was quite an experience. While sure we had washed our dogs before, never had we done both dogs at the same time and never in this situation where the facilities were totally prepared for us.
We stepped out of our norm and enjoyed doing the unexpected. We laughed as the pooches revolted against our cleaning efforts - all of us quite content to be spending this quality time together. As shampoo, water and hair flew, we had some unforeseen juicy moments in our lives. The really great thing was that we didn't have to clean up afterwards!
My message as it unfolds this morning is this Realization Recipe:
Take one strong dose of a vision you want in your life,
Write it down and make it a concrete goal,
Scoop in your steps to get you there,
Remove all doubt as you sprinkle in massive amounts of belief,
Put in the heaping tablespoons of what life brings daily,
Measure in life's simple pleasures,
Add a dash of awareness that obstacles will be thrown in your way,
Throw in some support from those who believe in you,
Be sure to put in cups and cups of tenacity and persistence,
Bake for as much time as you feel relevant (but don't overcook),
And before you know it, your big hairy audacious dream has become a reality giving you a whole new sense of fulfillment!
Would love to hear from you and how this recipe is working for you!
